POSITION OVERVIEW

At Columbia Sportswear, our retail associates play a crucial role in our operations across more than 430 locations globally. They are responsible for ensuring that products are readily available on the sales floor, creating visually appealing displays, addressing customer inquiries, and facilitating a smooth checkout process. Our associates contribute to unforgettable customer experiences while supporting the Store Leadership team in fulfilling Columbia Sportswear Company's mission of "Connecting Active People with Their Passions."

As a Retail Associate, you will act as a brand ambassador, delivering outstanding in-store experiences through positive interactions with customers. In this role, you will utilize your natural problem-solving skills and sales expertise to respond to customer inquiries and provide compelling product recommendations, all while upholding Columbia Sportswear Company's values of customer service and teamwork.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by addressing consumer inquiries about product features, benefits, and availability; engage with customers to understand their needs and preferences (e.g., demonstrate and explain merchandise, suggest suitable options, etc.).
  • Maintain store standards for visual merchandising, cleanliness, and safety; retrieve merchandise from the sales floor, stock room, or other inventory locations.
  • Execute all required cash register transactions (e.g., sales, returns, exchanges, connecting customers to loyalty programs) efficiently and accurately.
  • Contribute to store profitability by receiving, handling, replenishing, and processing incoming and outgoing product flow accurately and efficiently.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • No specific educational requirements (High School Diploma or GED preferred).
  • Up to 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Proficient in operating a Point of Sale (POS) system and other in-store computerized systems.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Frequently engaged in a dynamic environment that may require physical activity, including moving items weighing up to 40 lbs; may involve exposure to dust and noise.
  • Occasionally requires the ability to work in a stationary position.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with others.
  • Availability to work a flexible retail schedule, which may vary seasonally and in response to business trends.
