Certified Medication Aide

Role Summary:
The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) is responsible for the preparation and administration of medications to residents, ensuring accurate documentation of their health status in the Electronic Health Record (EHR). This role requires effective communication skills and a commitment to resident care.
Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma, completion of CMA training program, and CNA certification.
Licensure: Valid CMA certification and current CNA certification.
Experience: A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience is required, with a preference for candidates having 5 years of experience.
Skills: Proficiency in computer usage, strong communication abilities, and a collaborative mindset.
Transportation: Reliable transportation to ensure punctuality.
Work Environment:
The CMA operates primarily within a healthcare setting, which may involve limited exposure to infectious conditions. Candidates must be able to work in a supportive environment for residents, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Physical and Mental Demands:
This role requires mobility throughout the facility and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds. The CMA must be able to manage stress effectively while addressing the needs of residents and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with residents, families, and team members effectively.
- Administer medications according to physician directives and regulatory standards.
- Monitor vital signs as assigned and maintain accurate documentation.
- Report any changes in resident conditions to the supervising nurse.
- Document resident needs and conditions in compliance with facility protocols.
- Address incidents and complaints in accordance with established procedures.
- Support resident independence and promote their mental and physical well-being.
- Deliver daily care aligned with residents' care plans and facility standards.
- Assist in managing residents' supplies and prescriptions.
- Make informed judgments regarding resident care needs.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment, adhering to infection control practices.
- Perform assigned tasks in line with facility policies.
- Execute CNA duties as required.
- Complete additional tasks as directed.
- Foster a positive atmosphere that encourages resident engagement.
