Job Summary

The County of Santa Barbara is seeking a highly skilled Regulatory Compliance Manager II to join our team. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a motivated individual to make a meaningful contribution to our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee staff performing work in a highly regulated environment, including establishing regulations, monitoring compliance, and taking enforcement and corrective action.
  • Coordinate assigned activities with staff in other divisions and departments.
  • Provide highly responsible and complex staff assistance and administrative support to executive management staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • Equivalent of a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in environmental, biological, or physical science; business or public administration, or related field.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in air quality, engineering, and/or solid waste, or a related field, including at least two (2) years as a supervisor or manager.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience preparing reports for regulatory agencies.
  • Experience with air toxic emissions and modeling.
  • Experience with landfill gas collections and emissions monitoring.
  • Experience with power generation, renewables, and energy efficiency and management.
  • Solution and customer service-oriented.
  • Experience working in a public sector, municipality, or special district.
  • Ability to lead and effectively manage multiple situations occurring simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain sound working relationships with diverse people and personalities.
  • Strong understanding of best practices in performance management.
