Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Regulatory Compliance Manager II to join our team at the County of Santa Barbara, CA. As a key member of our Public Works Department, you will be responsible for overseeing staff performing work in a highly regulated environment, including establishing regulations, monitoring compliance, and taking enforcement and corrective action in areas such as environmental, health and safety compliance programs and projects related to waste management services, water and air pollution control, biogas energy production, environmental sensitivity and habitat restoration, and environmental mitigation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee staff performing work in a highly regulated environment, including establishing regulations, monitoring compliance, and taking enforcement and corrective action.
  • Coordinate assigned activities with staff in other divisions and departments.
  • Provide highly responsible and complex staff assistance and administrative support to executive management staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Equivalent of a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in environmental, biological, or physical science, business or public administration, or related field.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in air quality, engineering, and/or solid waste, or a related field, including at least two (2) years as a supervisor or manager.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience preparing reports for regulatory agencies.
  • Experience with air toxic emissions and modeling.
  • Experience with landfill gas collections and emissions monitoring.
  • Experience with power generation, renewables, and energy efficiency and management.
