Job Summary

We are seeking a Per Diem Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse to join our team at Oregon Health & Science University Doernbecher Children's Hospital. As a Per Diem PICU RN, you will provide high-quality patient care to critically ill neonatal, pediatric, and young adult patients. If you are a dedicated and compassionate nurse with a passion for pediatric critical care, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to critically ill patients in the PICU, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physicians, and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
  • Perform various procedures, such as central line placement, arterial line placement, lumbar puncture, intubations/extubations, CRRT initiation/discontinuation, ECMO cannulations/decannulations, and chest exploration.
  • Operate specialized equipment, including Hamilton G5 Ventilators, DirectLink ICP Monitors, Artic Sun Targeted Temperature Management, and Baxer Prismaflex Machines.
  • Document patient information, including medical history, medications, and treatment plans, in the electronic medical record.
  • Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • BLS AHA certification (RQI not accepted)
  • PALS AHA certification (RQI not accepted)
  • 2 years of experience in pediatric critical care or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of pediatric critical care principles and practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • NRP certification
  • Experience in higher-acuity mixed (medical/cardiac) PICUs
  • Strong EPIC skills
