Job Overview:

The Hot Tapping Specialist at Colt Services LLC is responsible for ensuring the safe and successful execution of hot tapping services at client work locations. This role involves interacting with customers to increase company presence in assigned geographic areas, as well as supervising and training new technicians or assistant technicians. The Hot Tapping Specialist promotes the safety, quality, and integrity culture at Colt.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to company and customer safety standards and practices.
  • Perform all duties as assigned and adhere to Colt's Core Values.
  • Review client job scopes and operate within job and client documentation.
  • Account for job equipment and tooling prior to arriving at the job site.
  • Perform hot tapping operations, including creating safe entries into pipes or vessels, operating at pressure or vacuum, and executing various techniques and tasks.
  • Inspect leak repair devices provided by manufacturing as part of quality control prior to installation.
  • Identify the necessity for proper safety equipment and coordinate with the plant and Colt's safety matrix to perform projects safely.
  • Document and administer procedures as required from job to job.
  • Communicate and collaborate with field personnel, client representatives, and management to achieve successful project completions.
  • Maintain awareness of company products and services available to customers.
  • Assist with sales functions throughout assigned territories.
  • Take direction from supervisory and lead personnel.
  • Adhere to quality procedures and demonstrate a strong safety culture.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school or related education preferred.
  • 2 or more years of experience with on-line leak repair.
  • Ability to pass routine and random drug screening.
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice.
  • Must be able to understand, speak, and write English.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete work assignments by specific deadlines.
  • Knowledge of plant maintenance and repair work preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to obtain OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certification.
Work Environment:

This position is based out of a branch or site location with a geographic responsibility. Field duties require indoor and outdoor work in a plant or industrial atmosphere, interacting with other crew employees, supervisors, and customer personnel. The position may involve working around production machinery with extreme heat and noise levels, as well as exposure to extreme temperatures. The ability to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department is necessary. Travel may be required to offsite locations.

Physical and Mental Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry 75 pounds.
  • Ability to walk and climb throughout industrial areas, including steps and ladders.
  • Ability to communicate with customers in high-stress environments.
  • Ability to work on elevated or hard-to-reach surfaces and areas in various locations throughout industrial facilities.
  • Ability to manage time and schedule on a weekly basis and travel when necessary to offsite locations.
  • Ability to maintain focus and multitask effectively on a variety of job scopes for different locations.
