Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Dietetic Assistant to join our Food Service Department at Newton Medical Center. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest quality care for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and assemble menus for assigned floors based on diet orders, ensuring consistency with the Care Manager system.
  • Communicate effectively with nurses on assigned units for patient requests, late trays, and supplies.
  • Document delivery of late trays and new orders to monitor food costs.
  • Maintain a friendly and efficient attitude towards customers, coworkers, and clients, adhering to department and hospital standards.
  • Assess patient acceptance and tolerance of food during meals and overall satisfaction with the service.
  • Communicate necessary information to Dietitians and Clinical Nutrition Coordinators regarding patients at nutritional risk.
  • Accurately compile special food orders and communicate effectively with food production employees.
  • Deliver trays to patients in a timely fashion, verifying patient identifiers and NPO lists.
  • Prepare cold food items according to specifications, labeling and delivering them properly.
  • Stock supplies to par levels, recording deliveries daily to monitor food costs.
  • Attend in-services and training programs, applying knowledge to improve work performance.
  • Assist in mentoring and training new employees, adhering to leadership skill development processes.
  • Report unsafe conditions, adhering to OSHA regulations and other local, state, and federal regulations.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Previous food service experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull 50 lbs.
