In this role, you will design and implement computer and information networks, including LAN, WAN, intranets, extranets, and data communications networks. You will perform network modeling, analysis, and planning, as well as design network and computer security measures. Your expertise will be relied upon to research and recommend network and data communications hardware and software. You will consult and advise on development projects for both customer and MAG Aerospace.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing technical advice and engineering guidance for next-generation planning efforts
  • Performing complex project tasks applied to specialized technology problems
  • Replicating or migrating IT capabilities, data, systems, and network services to other locations or domains
  • Providing technical direction and being a member of a group of one or more engineers to address a goal
  • Planning and implementing mission capabilities and transition to enterprise services, virtualized and cloud-based technologies
  • Supporting internally hosted advanced technologies and transitioning to enterprise services in a cloud environment, and migrating IT services to a new hosting service or technology stack in a multi-cloud environment
  • Integrating electronic processes or methodologies to resolve total system problems or technology problems
  • Maintaining and operating network and system management software, and other systems such as patch servers, update servers, and storage solutions
  • Providing on-site Tier II and Tier III support for non-SCAMPI Enterprise network infrastructure, while working in conjunction with the Enterprise Network service providers to ensure delivery of Enterprise-wide services
  • Architecting and designing solutions to meet functional and non-functional requirements
  • Enforcing adherence to architectural standards/principles, global product-specific guidelines, usability design standards, etc.
  • Providing guidance on engineering methodologies, standards, and leading practices
  • Providing insight and direction on roles and responsibilities required for solution operations
  • Identifying, communicating, and mitigating Risks, Assumptions, Issues, and Decisions throughout the full lifecycle
  • Managing and operating networks and systems for all environments
  • Diagramming and documenting current and future designs
  • Working with the security team on best practices, known risks, and recommendations
  • Participating in the creation of strategic roadmaps by understanding the needs of our customer and mapping technical objectives to those needs
  • Creating high-level reference architecture documentation to meet the technology needs of various stakeholders
  • Working autonomously to build customized solutions to meet business needs
  • Effectively communicating solutions architecture to management, as well as to customers and the project teams
  • Sustaining the necessary data throughput rate by monitoring networking activity and maintaining existing equipment
  • Working with Cyber Security analysts to ensure Enterprise information systems are secure
  • Ensuring effective and efficient operation of enterprise-level systems, architecture, and application availability
  • Monitoring to ensure operating systems are functioning properly and conform to operation security policies and procedures
  • Assisting with the deployment of hardware and applications and ensuring appropriate service levels, including physical servers, network devices, and other hardware essential to data center operations
  • Preparing recommendations based on monitoring results, tools analysis, and/or forensics
Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Hands-on experience in working with DoD networks, including NIPR, SIPR
  • Ability to assist with planning and implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the data centers/network
  • Maintaining technical expertise in all areas of virtualization, operating systems, and computer hardware/software, etc.
  • Fundamental background in working in the hybrid-cloud environment
  • Exceptional communication abilities, both verbal and written, including long-form business writing on complex topics

The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor's Degree (CS, CE, CIS, IS, MIS, or engineering discipline) or equivalent/previous experience developing system models and architectures. Additionally, the candidate must be DoD 8570 Compliant; IAT LVL II Certified, with one of the following certifications: CCNA Security, CySA+, CISSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, or SSCP. The candidate must also be a US Citizen and DoD TS/SCI Eligible. Desired qualifications include excellent technical architecture skills, excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills, ability to rapidly gain knowledge of the organizational structure of the firm, knowledge and experience in IT methodologies and life cycles, familiarity with solution implementation/management, service/operations management, etc., and maintaining close awareness of new and emerging technologies and their potential application for service offerings and products.
