Nursing Adjunct Faculty Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Nursing Adjunct Faculty member to join our team at Oklahoma City Community College. As an adjunct faculty member, you will have the primary responsibility of instruction, as well as supporting the integrity of curricula, encouraging student success, and promoting the mission of the division to which you belong.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Attend Adjunct Orientation Night meeting at the beginning of the semester.
  • Participate in course team meetings as scheduled during the semester.
  • Adhere to all college and nursing program policies and expectations.
  • Teach and evaluate students in the nursing skills lab and simulation experiences.
  • Communicate with the team leader and students regarding any issues or concerns.
  • Participate in lab and simulation evaluation as assigned.
  • Set up and take down nursing campus skills lab and simulation stations as directed.
  • Meet with nursing managers in each area where students will be assigned prior to the first clinical day.
  • Participate in student orientations to clinical sites and areas.
  • Make and post client assignments for students prior to each clinical day.
  • Input student unit assignments and take attendance in the MyClinicalExchange as directed.
  • Provide ongoing and appropriate on-site clinical instruction and supervision for each clinical experience.
  • Document observations of student skills and behaviors.
  • Provide feedback and written documentation to students, team leader, and/or program associate director or director if problems or student absences occur.
  • Schedule and facilitate clinical conferences according to guidelines in the course syllabus.
Requirements:
  • Active, unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Oklahoma.
  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing.
  • At least two years full-time equivalent practice as a Registered Nurse in a clinical setting.
  • Evidence of current practice in the area of teaching assignment.
  • Demonstrated positive human relations and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well as a team member in an instructional unit.
  • Ability to communicate and articulate concepts in an organized manner both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to read and understand content in order to assist students when they are having difficulty interpreting concepts.
  • Ability to interact in an effective and encouraging manner with students individually and in groups.

Work Environment:

This position's essential functions are performed in an indoor, classroom, office, and lab area. The person in this position will be exposed to infectious diseases and will be required to occasionally function around prisoners, mental patients, or agitated, hostile patients.
