Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Surgical Specialty Unit team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As a key member of our nursing team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading clinical teams, and promoting a positive work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care plans
  • Lead and manage clinical teams, including assigning and delegating tasks, providing guidance and feedback, and promoting a culture of safety and quality
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans, including participation in shared governance and quality improvement initiatives
  • Participate in education and training programs to enhance professional growth and development, including attending in-services, meetings, and workshops
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures, including adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures
Requirements
  • Current RN licensure in New Mexico or as allowed by reciprocal agreement
  • 2 years of direct experience in a surgical specialty unit
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and standards, including patient safety and quality improvement
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and demands
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field
  • Nationally certified in area of specialty
  • Bilingual English/Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to chemicals, biohazardous materials, and other hazardous substances. The position also requires the ability to work in a team environment, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
