Position Summary:

The Supervisor for Transportation within the Arizona and New Mexico Territory is a pivotal role reporting directly to the Operations Manager. This position is tasked with overseeing the daily logistics operations in the designated area, ensuring all transportation activities are conducted efficiently and in compliance with safety regulations and DOT standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commence daily operations at 6:30 am, with flexibility based on business requirements. Availability after hours for emergencies is essential.
  • On-site presence is required during weekend operations, determined by the scheduled routes.
  • Maintain consistent communication with the Warehouse Supervisor to guarantee unit availability for upcoming operations.
  • Establish a reliable point of contact for communication in case of unavailability.
  • Confirm trailer assignments for drivers to prevent miscommunication.
  • Plan and organize the transportation schedule for the following day.
  • Coordinate with the Warehouse Supervisor to ensure seamless operations and avoid disruptions.
  • Engage in the recruitment process for driver and helper positions.
  • Provide ongoing support, coaching, and identify development opportunities for team members.
  • Facilitate the onboarding process, ensuring adherence to training schedules and timelines.
  • Assess driver performance and proficiency to meet company standards.
  • Manage daily transportation operations to achieve high service levels and quality metrics.
  • Determine staffing needs to ensure adequate coverage and execute reporting mechanisms for operational performance.
  • Support training, recruitment, and performance evaluations for employees.
  • Process weekly time and attendance records to ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Communicate effectively with front-line employees regarding procedural changes and program implementations.
  • Monitor route progress daily through various tracking systems.
  • Maintain communication with Customer Service to address and resolve local customer issues promptly.
  • Provide feedback on routing efficiency for record-keeping purposes.
  • Ensure the proper use of routing technology and validate production accuracy reporting.
  • Oversee compliance with DOT regulations through diligent management of logs and pre-trip/post-trip processes.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of accidents and injuries, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Collaborate with external vendors to maintain fleet standards.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of DOT and IFTA reporting requirements.
  • Accountable for budget adherence, ensuring cost metrics align with financial goals.
  • Conduct monthly meetings with the Operations Manager to review financial performance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation, routing, and logistics management.
  • Strong understanding of DOT regulations and logistics software.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with diverse populations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and logistics management software.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.

Licenses:

  • Valid Driver's License; Class C preferred.

Travel Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel locally for business purposes.
