Business Office Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated Business Office Manager to lead the financial operations of the University of Sioux Falls. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your expertise in finance and accounting to drive our business forward.
This position involves overseeing the coordination of University financial records and budget management functions. You will assist with the management of the day-to-day operations of the USF Business Office, ensuring that University accounting procedures are followed and conform to generally accepted accounting principles.
Main Responsibilities- Financial Operations Leadership: Lead the coordination of University financial records and budget management functions.
- Operational Management: Oversee the management of the Business Office, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
- Budget Assistance: Assist with the annual budget process in cooperation with the VP for Business & Finance.
- Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including the Statement of Financial Position, the Statement of Activities, and annually the Statement of Cash Flows.
- Monthly Performance Review: Analyze and report on monthly operating results against budget.
- Annual Financial Audit: Lead the annual financial audit process.
- Cash and Treasury Management: Oversee liquidity management, transfers of cash and investments, and assessments of payment and deposit systems.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements.
- Process Enhancement: Implement improved financial and budget processes for the Business Office and University of Sioux Falls.
- Staff Supervision: Manage Business Office staff, working closely with the VP for Business & Finance and VP for Human Resources.
- Finance and Accounting Expertise: Demonstrated knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- CPA Certification: CPA certification required.
- Experience: At least five years of experience in a mid-level finance or accounting role.
- Higher Education Experience: Preference given to candidates with higher education or non-profit experience.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding of relevant federal and state financial regulations.
- Data Analysis and Reporting Skills: Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in automated financial and accounting reporting systems, including Jenzabar Administrative Software and ADP systems.
- Communication and Leadership Skills: Excellent professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate teams and work individually.
- Christian Mission Commitment: Understanding of and commitment to the Christian mission of the University of Sioux Falls.
- Time-Management Skills: Strong time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects.
- Certifications and Background Check: Ability to pass a required background check.
