Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to oversee the construction of utility-scale solar sites in the Northeast US. The successful candidate will have a strong background in construction management, solar energy, and contract administration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the construction of utility-scale solar sites, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Manage EPC contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality plans.
- Track and report project progress, including scheduling, budgeting, and quality control.
- Develop and implement project execution plans, including coordination of project kick-off meetings and close-out activities.
- Manage contract administration, including change orders, documentation of variances, and compliance with contract requirements.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration with internal stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, and safety teams.
- Conduct daily safety walks and submit reports to the head of internal safety programs.
- Manage internal safety goals and objectives with EPC contractors.
- Attend internal and external meetings as necessary.
- Verify and sign-off on various construction milestones, including civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical.
- Ensure thorough and quality work by verifying items against scopes of work and design plans.
- Verify EPC contractors adhere to QA/QC plans.
- Work with in-house engineering to provide information and attend job walks to facilitate reports from independent engineers.
- Collect EPC deliverables and upload to an internal data room or send to the appropriate team member for sign-off.
- Review electrical testing reports and commissioning plans prior to initial start-up.
- Review draft invoices with EPC contractors and sign off on work completed.
- First line of defense against proposed change orders; escalating to internal Project Manager as necessary.
- Proactively communicate and manage an ongoing punch list with EPC contractors, managing final punch list from Mechanical Completion to Final Completion.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of onsite construction management experience.
- 1+ year of BESS construction experience (highly preferred).
- 5+ years of DG solar experience.
- 3+ years of contract management experience to ensure EPC contractors are abiding by the contract and scope of work.
- Open to commuting to the site weekly (and going home on the weekends).
- Electrical, engineering, and understanding of skill trades knowledge.
- BS degree (preferred).
