Research Analyst Program Specialist

Program Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Analyst to support our team at the Peterson Institute for International Economics. As a Research Analyst, you will play a vital role in supporting senior researchers, contributing to our influential publications, and participating in enriching internal discussions.
The Peterson Institute addresses pressing economic challenges both in the United States and globally. Through rigorous research, the program develops actionable policy recommendations on a broad spectrum of topics, including economic growth, labor markets, regulation, health policy, environmental issues, and fiscal and monetary policy. Our scholars' work informs significant economic policies and engages both policymakers and the public.
Key Responsibilities
Quantitative Analysis, Programming, and Statistical Support (50%)
- Collaborate with senior scholars to prepare and revise programming code, simulation macros, database files, and regression estimates.
- Analyze data using statistical packages and spreadsheets.
- Prepare tables and graphs output from model simulations.
- Update and check existing databanks; assemble, consolidate, and check data from new sources.
Research Support (40%)
- Draft material summarizing research results on specific topics as assigned, for incorporation into working papers and project publications.
- Provide analytical reviews and summaries of existing literature pertinent to the projects.
- Locate and collect relevant documents and data from sources such as electronic databases, libraries, and government publications.
- Compile, read, abstract, and organize written material into bibliographic form and summaries.
- Maintain electronic bibliography files.
- Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Project Support, Communications, and Outreach (10%)
- Work with the communications and marketing team to prepare work for dissemination across web and social media platforms.
- Assist designated scholars with event preparation and logistics and meetings as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in economics, mathematics, statistics, public policy, international relations, or a related social science with a minor in economics.
- Proven research experience, demonstrated through academic work, internships, or relevant part-time positions.
- Authorization to work in the United States is required.
Skills and Knowledge
- Proficiency in computer and data management tools, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with coding in economic analysis programs such as Stata or R. Finalists will undergo a coding assessment administered by our Quality Control team.

Compensation
Salary: $55,000 to $63,000
