Position Overview:
As the Chief Nursing Officer for Inpatient Services, you will play a pivotal role in driving transformative change within the Nursing Department, embodying MSK's core values of respect, warmth, and dignity.
In collaboration with the Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Executive (SVP/CNE), you will spearhead initiatives that align the Nursing department's vision, mission, and values with overarching strategic goals.
Your emphasis will be on nurturing a culture of innovation and excellence while ensuring the safe provision of high-quality patient care across your designated areas.
Through strategic leadership, you will guide the planning, development, and execution of advanced programs, policies, and practices that further MSK's organizational and nursing objectives, making a significant impact as a leader of transformation within our healthcare community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Development: Collaborate with the SVP/CNE to create both short-term and long-term strategies for nursing services. Build strong partnerships with MSK's clinical, scientific, educational, and administrative leadership.
- Operational Leadership: Direct oversight of nursing operations within your assigned portfolio, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and cost-effective patient care. Standardize practices across the portfolio and ensure optimal care coordination.
- Staff Leadership: Provide effective leadership to maintain a supportive and highly regarded nursing team. Foster a professional development-oriented work environment.
- Financial Oversight: Collaborate in the planning, development, and management of capital and operating budgets, seeking innovative ways to prioritize financial stewardship while ensuring quality service.
- Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional growth through seminars, workshops, and industry affiliations.
Key Qualifications:
Master's degree with NYS and NJ RN license, and ANCC Magnet approved certification required.
Over 10 years of progressive nursing leadership experience in a major academic medical center or academic teaching hospital, including 5+ years managing and leading inpatient nursing teams and operations across multiple clinical areas.
Core Skills and Abilities: Comprehensive knowledge of professional nursing standards, regulatory requirements, healthcare finance, employee relations, and fostering a just culture environment.
Demonstrated ability to lead and transform teams, identifying root causes and driving progress as a change agent. Proven track record of performance and quality improvement in a high-reliability organization.
Strong commitment to outcomes and ability to translate data into positive results. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with high emotional intelligence.
