Job Summary

We're seeking a highly skilled Sr. Staff Battery Cell Engineer to lead our cell development and integration efforts for Rivian's electric vehicles. This is a critical role that requires expertise in cell design, development, and testing, as well as strong collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Lead cell development from design concept to mass production
  • Work with cross-functional teams to decompose vehicle requirements into cell specifications
  • Collaborate with cell suppliers to design and evaluate cell technology
  • Develop and execute test methods to evaluate lithium-ion battery cell chemistries
  • Drive cell selection decisions based on test results
  • Work with modeling engineers to extract cell parameters and validate models
  • Conduct cell failure analysis for field issues
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research and advancements in lithium-ion battery technology
Qualifications
  • MS degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or materials science
  • 10+ years of experience in lithium-ion battery testing and development
  • Strong understanding of electrochemistry and battery systems
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
