This is an exciting opportunity to join the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) as a Metrobus Operator Trainee. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for operating commercial passenger buses on scheduled routes and providing exceptional customer service.

As a Metrobus Operator Trainee, you will attend and successfully complete the WMATA bus operator training course, learning the skills necessary to operate WMATA commercial passenger buses safely and efficiently. You will also be responsible for completing pre- and post-operation inspections of assigned vehicles and reporting any safety issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate commercial passenger buses on scheduled routes.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to passengers.
  • Attend and successfully complete the WMATA bus operator training course.
  • Complete pre- and post-operation inspections of assigned vehicles.
Evaluation Criteria:
  • Candidates with relevant education and experience will be considered.
  • Resume review, skills assessment, personal interview, verification of education and experience, criminal background check, medical examination, and review of motor vehicle report may be included in evaluation criteria.
Requirements:
  • At least 20 years old at time of testing.
  • Pass background check and medical examination.
  • Possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or Learner's permit with Passenger Bus and Air Brakes endorsements.
Estimated Salary: $29.729/hour
