Medical Laboratory Specialist

The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is a vital member of our healthcare team at Singing River Health System. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our laboratory team.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate specimens for acceptability and perform accurate testing according to established laboratory protocols.
- Verify the accuracy of results before reporting and report test results in a timely manner.
- Perform maintenance and calibration on instruments and equipment as needed.
- Troubleshoot instruments, equipment, reagents, and patient specimens when problems occur.
- Comply with laboratory and hospital policies for universal precautions, safety procedures, and exposure control plans.
- Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related scientific discipline.
- Registered as a Medical Laboratory Technician by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT).
- Minimum of one year of experience preferred.
The work is moderately active, involving sitting and frequent movement. The ability to perceive sound at normal speaking levels and make fine discriminations is required. Close visual acuity and the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus are also necessary.
The individual must demonstrate keen mental faculties, assessment, and decision-making abilities. Superior communication and speaking skills are required, as well as the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
