Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Pathologist to serve as the Chief of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction and oversight to our pathology department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Provide guidance and supervision to medical students and residents
    • Participate in medical center committees and teams
    • Develop and evaluate professional and personal goals
    • Participate in formal programs, workshops, and conferences
  • Clinical Duties:
    • Participate in general surgical pathology and non-gyn cytopathology sign-outs
    • Share CP coverage and call responsibilities with other pathologists
    • Provide clinical and didactic teaching to pathology residents
    • Participate in scholarly activities
  • Leadership and Management:
    • Lead and manage the pathology department
    • Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Requirements
  • Board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology
  • Experience in general surgical pathology and cytopathology
  • Ability to provide clinical and didactic teaching
  • Strong leadership and management skills
