Job Title: Phlebotomist/Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist/Laboratory Technician to join our team at STGi. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing phlebotomy services and administrative support to our Community Based Outpatient Clinic.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform phlebotomy procedures, including venipuncture and finger-stick procedures, to collect blood samples from patients.
  • Conduct patient in-processing, including reviewing paperwork and providing guidance and assistance to patients.
  • Assemble equipment and supplies for phlebotomy procedures.
  • Verify patient identity and record vital signs.
  • Provide technical oversight and training to ensure safe and sanitary phlebotomy procedures.
  • Perform administrative and clerical tasks, including documenting samples and maintaining supply inventory.
  • Provide instruction on patient-centered specimen collection and special requirements for laboratory-collected specimens.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of phlebotomy and collection of clinical specimens, including age-specific techniques.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of two (2) years of current clinical experience working in a similar environment as a phlebotomist.
  • Possess and maintains a current certification and registration as a Phlebotomy Technician from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (PBT-ASCP) or a current certification and registration as a Phlebotomy Technician from the American Medical Technologist (RPT-AMT).
  • Possess Basic Life Support (BLS)/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Possess knowledge of medical terminology and the type and severity of patient reactions.
  • Must have exceptional diplomatic communication skills and experience in handling difficult customer situations.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
  • Moderate physical activity, including handling average-weight objects and standing/walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • Required to respond to any medical emergency within the clinic.
