Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist/Laboratory Technician to provide high-quality phlebotomy services and administrative support at our Community Based Outpatient Clinic. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory services, providing exceptional patient care, and maintaining accurate records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform phlebotomy procedures, including venipuncture, finger-stick, and heel-stick, using proper techniques and equipment.
  • Conduct patient in-processing, including reviewing paperwork and providing guidance and assistance as needed.
  • Assemble and maintain equipment, supplies, and work trays according to laboratory procedures.
  • Verify patient identity and record vital signs, draw blood samples, and conduct interviews to ensure accurate and efficient specimen collection.
  • Provide technical oversight and training to ensure safe and sanitary procedures.
  • Perform administrative and clerical tasks, including documentation, supply inventory, and front desk support.
  • Provide instruction on patient-centered specimen collection and special requirements for laboratory-collected specimens.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of phlebotomy and collection of adequate clinical specimens, including age-specific techniques.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide assistance as needed.
Requirements
  • Minimum of two (2) years of current clinical experience working in a similar environment as a phlebotomist.
  • Possess and maintain a current certification and registration as a Phlebotomy Technician from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (PBT-ASCP) or American Medical Technologist (RPT-AMT).
  • Possess Basic Life Support (BLS)/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • Possess knowledge of medical terminology and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Exceptional diplomatic communication skills and experience in handling difficult customer situations.
  • Detailed-oriented and able to multi-task.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Moderate physical activity, handling average-weight objects up to 25 pounds, and standing/walking for more than four (4) hours per day. Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. Required to respond to any medical emergency within the clinic.
