Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Gas Engineer to join our team at CenterPoint Energy. As a Gas Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and installing distribution systems in a safe, efficient, and practical manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering design, calculations, estimates, studies, and coordination of gas distribution facilities installations.
  • Analyze load, pressure requirements, future growth, and other variables during the design process.
  • Oversee the layout, sizing, and specification of pipeline equipment, economic justifications, and indirect supervision of others when project teamwork is required.
  • Create engineering drawings and effectively communicate design details to field personnel and contractors.
  • Conduct distribution system pressure and cathodic protection studies.
  • Maintain external contacts to ensure that materials, supplies, and information are available as needed.
  • Prepare economic justification for each project proposed to assist management with evaluation of capital investment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Civil, or other approved engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • No prior experience required.
