Job Summary

Xcel Energy is seeking a highly skilled Protection and Control Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our distribution operations team, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and leadership in supporting the execution and management of the Fault Location Isolation Service Restoration (FLISR) technology in our advanced distribution management systems (ADMS).

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply extensive technical expertise in supporting the strategy of FLISR, including development of the approach for intelligent field device placement and protection studies.
  • Represent the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects, interacting with senior external personnel on significant technical matters.
  • Support the development of technical documentation, including designs, testing, calculations, reports, and standards.
  • Work under the general direction of a higher-level engineer or supervisor, providing ongoing technical support for project activities within areas such as operations, maintenance, testing/diagnostics, and regulatory.
  • May lead small-medium, non-critical projects, and coordinate/lead critical projects or portions of projects, including phases such as research, design, equipment selection, procurement support, installation, and commissioning.
Requirements
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited curriculum (or recognized equivalency).
  • 0+ years relevant engineering experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate unique technical skills and core competencies for this engineering level established and documented by the organization.
  • Preferred: EIT/FE (Engineer in Training/Fundamentals of Engineering) preferred.
