Position Summary: As an Early Childhood Programs Assistant, you will play a vital role in the planning and execution of diverse, inclusive educational activities tailored for young children and their families. Your contributions will enhance the Children's Garden Rental program and support the Youth Volunteer Program, ensuring memorable experiences for all participants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in delivering a variety of educational programs for young children and their families, including fee-based and free public offerings, special events, and informal learning experiences.
  • Support the Youth Volunteer Program by planning activities and supervising volunteer shifts, while also overseeing adult volunteers.
  • Manage inquiries and provide accurate information regarding the Children's Garden rental program, including hosting responsibilities during events.
  • Maintain supply inventory for early childhood programs and ensure a safe, stimulating environment for all visitors.
  • Act as the Children's Garden Supervisor on Duty as needed.

Qualifications: A bachelor's degree is preferred, along with experience in early childhood education, whether in formal or informal settings. Strong communication skills are essential, as is a genuine enthusiasm for working with children. Experience with volunteers is advantageous, and proficiency in Google applications is beneficial. Certification in First Aid and CPR is required (training provided).

Success Factors: The ideal candidate will be highly organized, capable of managing multiple tasks with attention to detail, and able to work effectively as part of a team. Stamina and the ability to conduct programs outdoors in varying weather conditions are necessary.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: This role involves some physical activity, including limited lifting (up to 30 lbs.) and the ability to navigate the Arboretum's varied terrain. Work will take place in both indoor and outdoor settings.

Schedule: The position requires availability on weekends, holidays, and during peak seasons.
