Job Title: Information Technology Technician

Job Summary:

The CalSTRS Enterprise IT Governance Division is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to work as an Information Technology Technician on the IT Budgeting & Administration team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform IT invoices auditing and resolution functions and duties in support of IT budgeting and procurement/contract activities within the Business Technology Management domain for the Technology Services Branch.
  • Provide administrative and human resources backup support, as well as support to the Supervisor in maintaining and administering the Unit's collaboration tools.
  • Work with a high level of customer service to a variety of internal and external partners, preferably in a professional office setting.
  • Utilize desktop/cloud applications, including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, and Accounting/Enterprise Resource Planning systems.
  • Develop strong research, analytical, and critical thinking skills to learn and apply knowledge of processes and policies to determine the appropriate escalation and problem resolution steps.
  • Work independently and in a team environment, with the ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) through email, telephone, instant messaging, web conferencing, and in-person.
  • Have a general understanding of IT concepts, practices, and principles to provide a foundation for IT-related work, including but not limited to the general understanding of guidelines and phases/stages related to the delivery of IT services (e.g., ITIL), System Development Lifecycle (SDLC), and Project Management Lifecycle.

Requirements:

  • Working experience with reviewing/auditing goods and services invoices for accuracy and completeness and completing data entries into a database or system.
  • Working experience providing a high level of customer service to a variety of internal and external partners, preferably in a professional office setting.
  • Working experience using desktop/cloud applications, including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, and Accounting/Enterprise Resource Planning systems.
  • Strong research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) through email, telephone, instant messaging, web conferencing, and in-person.
  • Knowledge of IT concepts, practices, and principles.

Benefits:

  • Training and development (T&D) assignments may be considered for this position.
  • Every 12 months, based on performance evaluation, employees may receive a 5% salary increase until they reach the maximum salary for the position.
  • Telework Information: We offer a hybrid approach including in-office and remote work solutions with staff working on-site at our Headquarters in West Sacramento 2-3 days per week.

Working Conditions:

All staff of CalSTRS are employees of the State of California and subject to California employment taxes and withholdings. Upon appointment, staff are required to provide a current California address to CalSTRS Human Resources to be used as a remote work location.

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without the need for visa sponsorship by the start date of employment with CalSTRS.
