Job Title: Information Technology Technician

Job Summary:

The CalSTRS Enterprise IT Governance Division is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to work as an Information Technology Technician on the IT Budgeting & Administration team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform IT invoices auditing and resolution functions and duties in support of IT budgeting and procurement/contract activities within the Business Technology Management domain for the Technology Services Branch.
  • Provide administrative and human resources backup support, as well as support to the Supervisor in maintaining and administering the Unit's collaboration tools.
  • Work closely with the IT Budgeting & Administration team to ensure accurate and timely processing of IT invoices and related activities.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of IT concepts, practices, and principles to provide a foundation for IT-related work, including but not limited to the general understanding of guidelines and phases/stages related to the delivery of IT services (e.g., ITIL), System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Project Management Lifecycle.

Requirements:

  • Working experience with reviewing/auditing goods and services invoices for accuracy and completeness and completing data entries into a database or system.
  • Working experience providing a high level of customer service to a variety of internal and external partners preferably in a professional office setting.
  • Working experience using desktop/cloud applications including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, Accounting/Enterprise Resource Planning systems.
  • Strong research, analytical and critical thinking skills. Ability to learn and apply knowledge of processes and policies to determine the appropriate escalation and problem resolution steps.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) through email, telephone, instant messaging, web conferencing, and in-person.

Working Conditions:

All staff of CalSTRS are employees of the State of California and subject to California employment taxes and withholdings. Upon appointment, staff are required to provide a current California address to CalSTRS Human Resources to be used as a remote work location.

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without the need for visa sponsorship by the start date of employment with CalSTRS.

Special Requirements:

This position requires a current Information Technology Technician Exam. If you need to take the exam or if your score has expired, to gain list eligibility.

Prior to employment with CalSTRS, a background investigation (BI) will be conducted. The BI consists of a Personal History Statement and fingerprinting through the Department of Justice. The BI will check criminal and civil records and, if applicable, verify education and check driving records.

This position may be subject to disclosure and disqualification requirements concerning economic conflict of interest in government work, including the California Government Code and the CalSTRS Disclosure Requirements.
