Job Title: Patient Care Technician

Join our team at Northern Dutchess Hospital as a Patient Care Technician, where you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and support services.

Job Summary:

As a Patient Care Technician, you will work closely with our interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide high-quality patient care and support services. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing daily physical and emotional care to patients, including bathing, toileting, feeding, and ambulating.
  • Answering call lights in a timely manner and assisting licensed personnel as directed.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean environment, utilizing appropriate infection control techniques.
  • Recognizing when to seek help from licensed personnel and communicating problems to the manager as appropriate.
  • Transporting patients as needed and providing input to the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Acting as a preceptor to new Nurse Assistants and orientee Nurse Assistants.
  • Demonstrating use of appropriate body mechanics and displaying analytical and basic problem-solving skills.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A High School graduate or equivalency.
  • A BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Nursing home or acute care experience preferred.
Working Conditions:

This role requires:

  • Significant manual skills/motor coordination and finger dexterity.
  • Significant occupational risk.
  • Very Heavy effort, exerting up to 50 lbs. force.
  • Significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
