Job Summary

The Associate Director, Major Gifts and Planned Giving is a key member of the Development team at New York City Ballet, responsible for leading the organization's major gifts and planned giving efforts. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent communication and relationship-building skills to cultivate and steward donors, develop and implement fundraising strategies, and manage a portfolio of major gift and planned giving donors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive major gifts and planned giving strategies to achieve annual fundraising goals
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with major gift and planned giving donors, including identifying and soliciting new donors and managing existing relationships
  • Manage a portfolio of 100 major gift and upper-level patron program donors, and prospects, serving as their primary liaison to the Company
  • Work with the Director, Major Gifts and Individual Giving to create and manage annual and multi-year fundraising objectives for major gifts and planned giving
  • Lead day-to-day operations of major gift and Serenade Society programs and events, including coordinating with the Manager, Major Gifts and Young Patrons Circle and other Portfolio Managers
  • Develop and implement marketing plans to cultivate and steward new and ongoing relationships with Serenade Society members and planned giving prospects
  • Manage and support major gifts and individual giving teams to achieve annual fundraising objectives
  • Collaborate with the Individual Giving team to identify, cultivate, and solicit annual donations at the $20,000 level and above
  • Supervise the Manager, Major Gifts and Young Patrons Circle, and provide critical support to all areas of Individual Giving to help secure donations to support New York City Ballet's annual operations, capital projects, special programs, and endowment
Requirements
  • 7-10 years of experience with major gifts and/or planned giving fundraising
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently and meet deadlines with limited oversight
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues on various donor-focused projects and events
  • Financial accounting and solid customer service skills required
  • Persuasive and strategic communicator with demonstrated interpersonal skills and problem-solving ability
  • Proficiency with standard business applications, such as MS Office
  • Committed to, and enthusiastic about, the mission, programs and services of NYCB
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with Tessitura or related donor database preferred
Work Environment

This is a full-time position and the hours of work are between 10am - 6pm weekdays. Position requires the ability to participate in donor events and attend performances, including frequent evenings and weekends. Travel may be required as needed.
