Position Overview:
AltaPointe Health's Adult Residential Services cater to individuals facing significant and ongoing mental health challenges, necessitating social rehabilitation and community assistance.
Our dedicated team combines medical, nursing, and therapeutic services to deliver comprehensive care for over 200 adults requiring intensive support.
The Adult Residential Services Program encompasses group homes that are supervised around the clock when residents are present.
The primary goals for each adult group home include:preventing re-hospitalization and promoting successful community integration. Our residential care prioritizes the rehabilitation and reintegration of individuals with serious mental health conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
Behavioral Support Specialists in the residential environment are tasked with essential observation and monitoring of residents within the group home, conducting daily assessments of resident behavior, providing training in fundamental living skills, facilitating transportation to appointments and outings, administering medication, assisting with personal care, and preparing meals for residents.
1. Engage in continuous monitoring and interaction with residents, including training in basic living skills (BLS) tailored to assessed needs and the implementation of behavioral plans when necessary.
2. Meet daily productivity expectations through individual and group BLS services.
3. Assist residents with personal care tasks (bathing, toileting, and hygiene), medication management, household chores, and safety protocols.
4. Exhibit flexibility to work at any ARS facility as staffing requirements dictate.
5. Prepare meals for residents in accordance with individualized dietary guidelines and maintain inventory of food and household supplies.
6. Demonstrate the ability to identify crisis situations and proactively de-escalate or resolve them.
7. Adhere to the Nurse Delegation Program, including recertification obligations.
8. Ensure compliance with the established household schedule, individual appointments, and planned activities.
9. Transport residents to and from appointments and outings.
10. Model appropriate behaviors, including effective communication, grooming, and manners.
11. Collaborate with residents and staff to maintain cleanliness within the home.
12. Conduct hand-off communication during shift changes and work effectively with treatment team members.
13. Fulfill routine health and safety responsibilities for both the residence and vehicles.
14. Report any accidents or driving infractions to the supervisor and human resources.
15. Seek supervision and consultation as needed.
16. Accept and implement constructive feedback for improvement.
17. Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings.
18. Document activities and services in a timely manner according to AltaPointe policies.
19. Maintain clear and legible documentation of the services provided, resident responses, and progress towards goals.
20. Treat residents with respect, dignity, and compassion.
21. Uphold residents' privacy and confidentiality.
22. Maintain a pleasant and cooperative demeanor with colleagues and visitors.
23. Be sensitive to the diverse needs, expectations, and individual differences of residents.
24. Exhibit gentleness and calmness when interacting with residents and their families.
25. Actively engage in Performance Improvement initiatives.
26. Participate in AltaPointe committees as required.
27. Complete assigned tasks promptly.
28. Follow AltaPointe policies and procedures diligently.

30. Perform any additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Physical Requirements:
This role involves frequent to constant standing while organizing and stocking groceries.
Frequent sitting is required for documentation and group activities.
Walking various distances on the premises is common, with the maximum distance being approximately 300 feet.
Frequent squatting and lunging are necessary for stocking and organizing supplies and for cooking tasks.
Strong grip strength is essential for handling groceries and cooking tasks.
Fine motor skills are required for writing and managing paperwork.
Occasional lifting of weights ranging from 5 to 50 pounds is necessary.
Additional duties may include cleaning and laundry tasks.
This position allows for self-scheduling, with employees selecting their preferred shifts six weeks in advance based on available opportunities. Full-time employees are expected to work three 12-hour shifts weekly, including rotating weekends; part-time employees may work 1-2 shifts weekly; and PRN staff are required to work approximately once a month or more as needed.
Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.
