Role Purpose:

The primary responsibility of this position is to execute a comprehensive range of cleaning tasks to ensure that all areas of the campus facilities meet established sanitary standards. This is essential for maintaining a clean and visually appealing environment that supports the educational mission of the University.


This role serves as a pooled position, intended to gather potential candidates for custodial openings as they arise.



Key Responsibilities:

The specific duties of custodians may differ based on their assigned shift and building location.



General Classroom Duties Include:
  • Emptying and sanitizing waste receptacles;
  • Arranging and aligning desks;
  • Cleaning chalkboards, whiteboards, and erasers;
  • Sanitizing desks and tables;
  • Vacuuming carpets and mopping hard floors;
  • Removing marks and graffiti from surfaces;
  • Dusting baseboards, window sills, and ledges;
  • Cleaning glass partitions and mirrors.


Restroom Maintenance Duties Include:
  • Sanitizing urinals, basins, and commodes;
  • Mopping restroom floors;
  • Restocking paper towels, toilet paper, and soap;
  • Cleaning shower facilities and locker areas;
  • Maintaining cleanliness of water fountains and other surfaces.

Additional cleaning may be required for special events.


Responding to emergency calls via communication devices is expected. Participation in safety training sessions is mandatory.


Report any malfunctioning equipment, supply needs, or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisory personnel.


Maintain cleanliness and organization in custodial work areas.


Wear designated uniform attire.


Adhere to all policies and procedures established by the University and the Operations & Maintenance Department.


Perform any other related duties as assigned by supervisory staff.



Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED;
  • Basic computer proficiency;
  • Ability to perform duties requiring medium to heavy physical exertion regularly;
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and outside of standard schedules, to meet the needs of the University.

Previous custodial experience and a valid driver's license are preferred.

Salary: $11.96/hr minimum
