Department Overview:

The Cyber Threat Intelligence and Adversary Emulation department at MITRE is in search of a Group Leader to provide essential first-line leadership. We are looking for a skilled professional to join our leadership team in a hybrid role. This department plays a crucial role in enhancing MITRE's cyber threat intelligence and adversary emulation capabilities for various national security, public sector, and private sector partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Staff Management: Oversee daily administrative functions for a team of 6-10 individuals. This includes driving recruitment, conducting interviews, and facilitating onboarding processes. Maintain regular communication with team members to ensure their well-being and job satisfaction.
  • Career Development: Offer coaching, mentoring, and support to team members to foster their professional growth and enhance their contributions. Advocate for training opportunities, project placements, and skill development.
  • Performance Management: Gather feedback on team performance and recommend necessary developmental actions. Conduct annual performance evaluations and maintain open lines of communication regarding performance expectations.
  • Quality Assurance: Cultivate a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the department. Encourage ongoing learning and innovation to enhance all aspects of the department's initiatives.
  • Leadership Collaboration: Engage with the Department Manager and other leaders to guide departmental strategy and direction. Serve as a backup for the Department Manager when necessary, ensuring that staff are aligned with the overall goals of the division.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years with a Master's degree; or a PhD with applicable experience.
  • Must be a US citizen capable of obtaining and maintaining a US government clearance.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with department leadership to build a cohesive team.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, managing, and mentoring staff.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to network and negotiate across various teams and departments.
  • Experience in addressing complex cyber operations challenges.
  • Enjoy a balanced work-life with a flexible hybrid schedule.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to establish and nurture key relationships across MITRE's Cyber Operations and Effects Innovation Center.
  • Familiarity with MITRE's operational model and how it effectively delivers work.

Salary Range: $118,000 - $147,500 - $177,000 annually.

Work Location: Hybrid.
