Overview:

We are seeking a qualified solicitor to become a vital member of the Boots UK Legal team, specializing in Employment Law. This role is an excellent opportunity for a legal professional to work within a supportive and collaborative environment, primarily serving the Boots UK & Ireland and Boots Opticians sectors.

The focus of this position will be on overseeing a substantial portfolio of employment tribunal cases, while delivering pragmatic, risk-aware legal counsel to the organization. Additionally, you will have the chance to assist fellow in-house legal advisors on employment and industrial relations matters related to various transactions, including outsourcing, mergers, acquisitions, and TUPE issues. This position will report directly to the Director of Employment Law, International.

Key Responsibilities:


• Overseeing employment claims for Boots UK, Boots Opticians, and other Walgreens Boots Alliance entities;


• Managing relationships with external legal advisors concerning employment-related matters;


• Providing timely and expert employment law advice and support to the HR Director, key stakeholders, and the broader HR Function in alignment with Boots' strategic and operational objectives; and


• Collaborating closely with HR Leadership teams to promote best practices.

Qualifications:


• A qualified solicitor (England & Wales) or equivalent qualification with a minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience (indicative).


• Comprehensive experience in UK employment law matters, with a proven ability to manage a significant litigation workload.


• A strong commercial perspective, coupled with sufficient technical expertise to operate independently within an in-house employment law team.


• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to foster strong relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
