Position Overview

DEKA Research and Development is seeking a dedicated individual for a full-time role within our maintenance team, focused on essential building upkeep and specialized requests. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong communication abilities, adaptability to shifting priorities, and a collaborative spirit while maintaining a professional demeanor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently manage and complete work orders
  • Respond to emergency maintenance calls as the primary responder
  • Document relevant details pertaining to work orders
  • Engage with management, staff, and tenants regarding maintenance, projects, and urgent situations
  • Guide contractors in maintaining facility systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire suppression, and access control
  • Execute preventative maintenance strategies for the facility
  • Oversee inventory of supplies necessary for daily operations

Qualifications for Success:

  • 2-5 years of experience in a maintenance capacity
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and maintain documentation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in performing minor repairs using hand and power tools related to carpentry, plumbing, painting, HVAC, access control, and cleaning
  • Collaborative mindset to work effectively with other maintenance personnel
  • Ability to interpret basic electrical and mechanical schematics
  • Proficient in root cause analysis and repair techniques
  • Excellent communication capabilities
  • Availability for after-hours emergency calls
  • Capability to handle various cleaning agents and chemicals safely
  • Compliance with regulations such as OSHA, EPA, and State Health Department standards
  • Physical ability to manage tools and equipment safely for extended periods
  • Capacity to move continuously during work hours and lift/carry weights of 50 to 75 pounds
  • Ability to lift, carry, walk, push, and pull as required
