Position Overview

The Universal Banker operates under general supervision while adhering to established policies and procedures. This role is pivotal in delivering outstanding customer service and supporting the overall functioning of the branch. The incumbent will collaborate with the Assistant and Branch Managers across all aspects of the Platform functions, as well as assist in coordinating sales, business development, and service-related initiatives. Additionally, they will perform teller duties as required.



Branch Responsibilities

All Universal Bankers are assigned a home branch but may be required to assist at other locations as needed. Flexibility to work at various branches is essential.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing daily branch operations in the absence of the Branch Manager and/or Assistant Branch Manager.
  • Ensuring high standards of service quality and operational efficiency.
  • Providing exemplary customer service consistently while interacting with clients.
  • Maintaining a professional demeanor at all times.
  • Continuously enhancing product knowledge to effectively address customer financial needs.
  • Identifying opportunities for workflow improvements.
  • Resolving customer and account-related issues efficiently and professionally.
  • Safeguarding customer confidentiality.
  • Accurately identifying all new and existing customers.
  • Facilitating the opening of all bank account products.
  • Executing transactional services, including deposits, withdrawals, and stop payments, ensuring accuracy in each transaction.

Business Development Focus

  • Actively pursuing sales through cross-selling additional products and services.
  • Identifying leads and potential business opportunities during customer interactions.
  • Supporting the Branch Manager in outreach efforts to local businesses and community organizations to promote community engagement and enhance deposit growth.
  • Preparing and monitoring daily operational reports, assisting in budget adherence, and approving transactions requiring overrides.
  • Executing the Bank's BSA program, including Customer Identification Program (CIP), ChexSystems, and OFAC processing, while observing customer activities and completing necessary currency transaction reports.
  • Encouraging staff to promote the bank's product offerings through effective cross-selling strategies.
  • Ensuring compliance with all branch security and control procedures.
  • Participating in required training sessions and meetings.
  • Engaging in community involvement and public relations activities as necessary.
  • Assisting with branch audits.

Supervisory Duties

This position directly supervises three teller employees, executing supervisory responsibilities in alignment with organizational policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training staff, planning and directing work, evaluating performance, and addressing employee concerns.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and one to two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong language skills for reading, interpreting, and writing reports and correspondence.
  • Mathematical proficiency for calculating figures such as discounts and percentages.
  • Reasoning ability to follow detailed instructions and address problems in standardized situations.

Physical and Work Environment

The physical demands of this position require regular communication, frequent sitting, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. The work environment is typically quiet, allowing for focused operations.
