Position Overview
The Universal Banker, under general supervision and adhering to established policies and procedures, is tasked with delivering outstanding customer service while supporting the branch's overall operations. This role involves collaborating with the Assistant and Branch Managers in all aspects of platform functions, alongside coordinating sales, business development, and service-related initiatives. The incumbent may also perform teller duties as required.
Branch Responsibilities
All Universal Bankers are assigned a primary branch but may be required to assist at other locations as needed. Flexibility to work across various branches is essential.
Key Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Overseeing daily branch operations in the absence of the Branch Manager and/or Assistant Branch Manager.
- Ensuring high standards of branch service quality and operational efficiency.
- Providing exemplary customer service consistently when interacting with clients.
- Maintaining a professional demeanor at all times.
- Continuously enhancing product knowledge to assist customers with their financial needs.
- Identifying opportunities for workflow improvements.
- Resolving customer and account-related issues promptly and professionally.
- Safeguarding customer confidentiality.
- Accurately identifying all new and existing customers.
- Opening all account products offered by the bank.
- Performing transactional services, including stop payments, deposits, withdrawals, and ensuring accurate completion of each transaction.
Business Development Responsibilities include:
- Actively pursuing sales through cross-selling additional products and services.
- Identifying leads and further business opportunities during customer interactions.
- Assisting the Branch Manager in outreach efforts to local businesses and community organizations to promote the bank's community involvement and enhance deposit growth.
- Preparing and monitoring daily reports, ensuring operations remain within budgetary constraints, and approving transactions requiring overrides.
- Complying with the Bank's BSA program, including Customer Identification Program (CIP), ChexSystems, and OFAC processing, as well as monitoring customer activity and completing currency transaction reports as necessary.
- Supporting the Branch Manager in fostering a competitive focus within the branch by encouraging staff to promote the bank's product offerings through effective cross-selling.
- Ensuring adherence to all branch security and control procedures.
- Participating in all required training sessions and meetings.
- Engaging in community involvement and local public relations activities as needed.
- Assisting with branch audits.
Supervisory Duties
This role includes direct supervision of three teller employees, executing supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities encompass training staff, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and addressing complaints and resolving issues.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates must demonstrate the following:
- A Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, with one to two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong language skills to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, and communicate effectively.
- Mathematical proficiency to calculate figures and amounts, including discounts, interest, and percentages.
- Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions and address problems in standardized situations.
Physical and Work Environment
The physical demands of this position require regular communication, frequent sitting, and occasional standing and lifting of up to 25 pounds. The work environment is typically quiet, allowing for focused tasks.
