Physician Assistant/Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant/Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Facility MaineHealth Maine Medical Center. The successful candidate will provide medical care and practice medicine with physician supervision, including conducting examinations and writing prescriptions for inpatients.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide medical care and practice medicine with physician supervision, including conducting examinations and writing prescriptions for inpatients.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians on cases and make responsible decisions within the scope of PA/ACNP practice.
- Develop and implement care plans for patients, including diagnosing and treating medical problems.
- Accurately evaluate patient problems and provide appropriate advice, intervention, or referral.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to established standards and practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and successful completion of accredited physician assistant program/acute care nurse practitioner program.
- Current Physician Assistant/Acute Care Nurse Practitioner license issued by the State of Maine or eligible for licensure.
- NCCPA/ACNP certification and current BLS required.
- At least three years of inpatient experience desired.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of medical model and roles of physicians and physician assistants.
- Familiarity with anatomy, pharmacology, pathophysiology, clinical medicine, and physical diagnosis.
- Knowledge of indications for and proper techniques for office procedures.
- Knowledge of patient assessment techniques, including taking medical histories, performing physicals, evaluating health status, and compliance with care recommendations.
