Job Summary

Geisinger Health System is proud to offer a Surgical Technologist a $7500 hiring incentive for eligible candidates, competitive pay rates, up to $5/hr shift differential for evening, night and weekend shifts and up to $40,000 in financial support to become a nurse.

Job Duties
  • Assist in surgical operations by preparing the operating rooms for surgery, sterilizing and supplying equipment, and preparing patients for surgery.
  • Help surgeons and nurses during surgery by passing them instruments and other sterile supplies.
  • Coordinate care in the operating room, prepare operating room supplies and equipment for surgical procedures, and maintain aseptic techniques.
  • Participate in surgical Time and Out and OR Briefing according to the universal protocol, identify correct surgical site with the circulating RN and Surgeon before incision of operative procedures, and verify count with the circulating nurse at end of procedure.
  • Prepare, identify, and verify all specimens obtained during the surgical procedure, follow Universal Protocol standards in the OR, and identify and report any concerns or observations that may impact patient care to the RN circulator.

Requirements
  • Graduate from Specialty Training Program.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience.
  • Basic Life Support Certification.
