Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Radiology Technologist II to join our team at Geisinger Health System. As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of standardized radiological/fluoroscopic examinations, operating related equipment and devices, and maintaining safe radiation practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform standardized radiological and fluoroscopic examinations, ensuring proper patient positioning, techniques, and equipment operation.
  • Verify correct orders and patient identification to ensure accurate and safe procedures.
  • Analyze patient body size, thickness, age, physical condition, and suspected pathology to determine standardized examination requirements.
  • Assist physicians with various procedures and utilize digital technology for image production.
  • Ensure the quality of images sent to picture archiving communication systems.
  • Prepare patients for radiological procedures by positioning them, adjusting immobilization devices, and operating equipment.
  • Provide necessary education to patients and minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques.
  • Maintain radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Manage radiology supplies inventory by checking stock levels, anticipating needed supplies, and expediting orders.
  • Stay up-to-date with professional knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications, and participating in professional societies.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by adhering to procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
Requirements
  • Graduate from a specialty training program.
  • Minimum of 1 year of related work experience.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) and Certified Radiology Technologist - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certifications.
