We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Imaging Technologist II to join our team at Geisinger Health System. As a Diagnostic Imaging Technologist II, you will be responsible for performing a variety of standardized radiological/fluoroscopic examinations, operating related equipment and devices, maintaining safe radiation practices, and maintaining related records.
Key Responsibilities- Perform standardized radiological and fluoroscopic examinations involving proper positioning of patients, techniques, and operation of equipment.
- Verify correct orders and patient identification.
- Review and analyze patient body size, thickness, age, physical condition, and suspected pathology for standardized examinations.
- Assist physicians with various procedures.
- Utilize digital technology for image production.
- Responsible for Quality Assurance of images sent to picture archiving communication systems.
- Prepare patients for radiological procedures by positioning patients, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into specified positions, and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
- Provide necessary education to patients.
- Minimize radiation to patients and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors.
- Ensure operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Maintain radiology supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory levels, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, and verifying receipt of supplies.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, following drug protocols in case of reactions to drugs, administering first aid, and using the emergency cart.
- Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
- Administer first aid and assist in cases of adverse reactions to media.
- Graduate from a Specialty Training Program.
- Minimum of 1 year of related work experience.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification - American Heart Association (AHA).
- Certified Radiology Technologist - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
