Our mission is to provide comprehensive life skills training, education, and advocacy to foster independence and full citizenship for Long Islanders with diverse abilities.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Registered Nurse who is comfortable working with adults in a 31-bed facility. Excellent communication skills are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and ensure the overall health and safety of individuals served.
  • Supervise and train direct care staff on medication administration, universal precautions, infection control, and health and safety protocols.
  • Complete yearly recertification for medication certified individuals.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Generate incident, seizure, and illness reports.
  • Monitor and report health care on daily flow report records.
  • Instruct direct support professionals on hygiene, diet, weights, and other essential care tasks.
  • Submit written monthly, quarterly, and annual nursing/medical progress notes.
  • Implement guidance policies to address medication errors or health and safety violations by direct care staff.
  • Maintain and review medical records according to state and federal guidelines and UCP policy.
  • Schedule and follow up on indicated and annual medical appointments and lab work.
  • Monitor and maintain an adequate supply of medications, medical goods, and equipment.
  • Complete assigned paperwork according to UCP policy.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with developmentally disabled populations is preferred.
  • Current NYS license to practice as a Registered Nurse is required.

Education, Licenses, and/or Certifications:

  • Current New York State License.
