POSITION SUMMARY

The Financial Controller at Isanti, LLC, a Tribal Corporation affiliated with the Santee Sioux Nation, is tasked with supervising the financial operations and guaranteeing the precision and integrity of financial reporting. This position encompasses managing accounting functions, generating financial statements, and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards. The Financial Controller collaborates closely with the CFO to uphold the financial well-being and strategic objectives of Isanti, LLC, while consistently demonstrating ethical and professional conduct in alignment with the company's vision, mission, and core values.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Reporting:

  • Generate and verify the accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Oversee the creation of financial reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory standards.
  • Establish a system of controls over accounting transactions to mitigate risk.

Accounting Operations:

  • Direct daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger management.
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Guarantee timely and accurate processing of financial transactions.
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and reporting.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Assist in the formulation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor budget performance and conduct variance analysis.
  • Support the CFO in financial planning and analytical activities.

Internal Controls and Compliance:

  • Develop and implement internal control policies and procedures to safeguard the integrity of financial data.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and tribal financial regulations.
  • Coordinate and facilitate internal and external audits.

Financial Analysis:

  • Perform financial analysis to aid decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on financial performance and trends.
  • Assist in assessing business opportunities and financial risks.

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise and mentor accounting personnel, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Offer training and development opportunities for the finance team.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support overall corporate objectives and initiatives.
  • Oversee training programs and identify training needs.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Prepare the annual budget and forecasts; report significant budget variances to management.
  • Recommend benchmarks for measuring the company's performance.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including tribal members, government agencies, financial institutions, and external auditors.
  • Communicate financial performance and strategies to the CFO and other stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Experience in a tribal or non-profit organization is highly preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • CPA or CMA Certification is preferred.

Skills:

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Knowledge of tribal financial regulations and compliance requirements.

INDIAN PREFERENCE


Indian preference will be granted to candidates who provide proof of enrollment in a federally recognized tribe. In the absence of qualified Indian applicants, all candidates will be considered without regard to race, color, sex, political preference, age, religion, or national origin.
