Position Overview:

The Assistant Distribution Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the Distribution Manager with responsibilities that include recruiting, training, and scheduling personnel. This position is also integral in formulating, executing, and overseeing logistics strategies aimed at ensuring the uninterrupted distribution of wire and cable in alignment with established standards, customer requirements, and production objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Under the guidance of the Distribution Manager, supervises the workforce involved in shipping, receiving, loading, and unloading trucks, as well as in storing, retrieving, packing, and distributing finished products.
  • Delegates specific tasks to team members, such as verifying quantities of incoming products and assembling orders for customers.
  • Promotes a culture of safety across all work activities.
  • Collaborates with various departments and stakeholders to devise strategic plans and procedures that enhance warehouse operational efficiency.
  • Ensures organized stacking and storage of products, as well as the efficient picking and staging of outgoing shipments, while maintaining high productivity levels and ensuring that shipments are complete and undamaged.
  • Establishes operational protocols for verifying incoming and outgoing shipments, analyzes warehouse inventory, and generates reports on slow-moving or surplus stock.
  • Reviews shipping documents for incoming products and customer orders to effectively plan work activities.
  • Maintains accurate departmental records and documentation in a timely manner.
  • Ensures proper maintenance of equipment and a clean, safe working environment.
  • Interprets and enforces company policies and practices among employees.
  • Coordinates activities with sales, inventory management, purchasing, and transportation departments.
  • Optimizes and manages the fulfillment order lifecycle.
  • Delivers a high standard of internal and external customer service.
  • Ensures that all products and services comply with both external and internal requirements, including legal standards and customer expectations.
  • Identifies opportunities to minimize waste and enhance efficiency.
  • Actively participates in internal continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience in distribution management is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, or related fields is preferred.
  • Proven ability to achieve and maintain high levels of customer service.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in distribution management is required.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills are essential.
  • Experience with continuous improvement and lean principles is advantageous.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Ability to anticipate and resolve issues effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are critical.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and systems is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with strict scheduling demands.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is a plus.
