POSITION OVERVIEW:

The MEP Project Manager plays a crucial role in the successful execution of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing projects. This position involves overseeing the coordination of various systems and ensuring that all components are installed efficiently and effectively.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Scheduling:
  • Assist in formulating the sequence of installation for mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Help establish key milestones for the completion of different systems to facilitate adequate pre-testing and testing phases.
  • Support the creation of testing schedules for each subcontractor's components leading to the integrated testing of systems involving multiple contractors.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of shop drawing and submittal schedules, identifying long lead items for inclusion in the Master Project Schedule.
  • Assist in crafting job close-out schedules and implementing procedures for final submissions, including as-builts and operation manuals.

Shop Drawings and Submittals:
  • Review submissions for adherence to contract specifications.
  • Ensure proper coordination of scope among all trades and facilitate necessary exchanges of submittals.
  • Evaluate spatial coordination among trades, addressing duct and piping layouts, beam penetrations, and headroom clearances.

Estimating and Preconstruction:
  • Assist in preparing preliminary estimates for mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Review subcontractor budgets and scope sheets for accuracy and compliance.
  • Support the development of preliminary project schedules.
  • Examine subcontract proposals for scope, pricing, and adherence to the general contract.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Participate in weekly subcontractor meetings as required.
  • Organize special meetings to address design challenges and coordinate shop drawings.
  • Monitor on-site activities to ensure compliance with contract requirements and project timelines.
  • Inspect materials and equipment stored off-site as necessary.
  • Identify areas requiring coordination with other trades, such as drywall and finish hardware.
  • Assist the Project Manager in evaluating change order requests for scope and pricing.
  • Help develop temporary mechanical and electrical systems as needed.
  • Provide recommendations on subcontractor performance and suitability for future projects.
  • Review payment requests and billing breakdowns for mechanical and electrical work.
  • Foster relationships with building, plumbing, and electrical inspectors.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Technical expertise in electrical and mechanical trades.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations.
  • Understanding of contractual obligations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to identify and resolve job site issues effectively.
  • Knowledge of labor assignments in the craft trades.
