Job Title: Financial Controller

Job Summary:

The Financial Controller plays a critical role in overseeing the financial operations of Rosehill Construction, a vertically integrated construction and real estate company. This position requires a thorough understanding of accounting principles, proficiency in excel software, and strong leadership and teamwork skills to effectively work with the accounting team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare accurate and timely weekly and monthly financial statements for multiple related entities, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
    • Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and regulatory requirements.
    • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Ensure appropriate budgets are made and monitored.
    • Prepare financial forecasts to support strategic decision-making.
  • Cash Management:
    • Manage cash flow and liquidity to meet operational needs and debt obligations.
    • Implement effective cash management policies and procedures.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable:
    • Oversee the accounts payable and receivable functions, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and tenant billing.
    • Ensure timely and accurate recording of transactions.
  • Property/Capex Accounting:
    • Maintain property-level accounting records and ledgers.
    • Review property financials for accuracy and completeness.
  • Internal Controls and Compliance:
    • Establish and maintain internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
    • Coordinate with external accountants on audits, reviews, and other tax return engagements.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and support to foster professional growth.
    • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages teamwork and accountability.
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
    • 10+ years of experience.
    • CPA preferred.
    • Real estate and/or construction experience a plus.
    • Strong knowledge of GAAP and real estate industry accounting standards.
    • Experience with related party transactions maintained in a single accounting system.
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
    • Demonstrated leadership abilities and a track record of building and motivating high-performing teams.
