Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Vice President of Global Production to join our dynamic team at Ground Up International. This role requires deep industry knowledge of footwear manufacturing, supplier relationships, production management, and global trade regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Management:
    • Manage, oversee, and develop our NY-based production team, coordinating with our China/DGO office.
    • Elevate sourcing strategy, manage factory relationships, and negotiate pricing.
    • Communicate daily with overseas factories on questions, changes to specs, and standards.
    • Oversee the entire production lifecycle, from material procurement to product delivery.
    • Ensure manufacturing processes are optimized for efficiency, quality control, and adherence to production timelines.
  • Global Sourcing Strategy:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive global sourcing strategy that aligns with the company's goals for product quality, innovation, sustainability, and cost-efficiency.
    • Identify and build partnerships with key suppliers across the Asia Region and beyond to ensure consistent quality and delivery timelines.
    • Sourcing diversity goals, including 60/30/10 targets.
  • Supplier Relationship Management:
    • Establish and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key suppliers, manufacturers/factories, and vendors worldwide.
    • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms that provide strategic benefits to the company.
    • Ensure a diverse, reliable, and resilient supplier base.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Implement and oversee robust quality control systems to maintain the highest standards of product quality and compliance with industry regulations.
    • Review and oversee all tech packs for accuracy, completeness, quality, and affordability.
    • Ensure quality standards are in place so that all products meet or exceed consumer expectations for durability, comfort, and design.
  • Cost Optimization & Efficiency:
    • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement within sourcing and production without compromising quality or design integrity.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance and logistics, to develop cost-effective supply chain strategies.
  • Sustainability & Compliance:
    • Drive initiatives to improve sustainability within the supply chain, including sourcing eco-friendly materials, reducing waste, and optimizing energy efficiency.
    • Ensure full compliance with all environmental, labor, and trade regulations across global operations.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify potential risks within the global supply chain, including geopolitical, economic, and environmental risks, and develop strategies to mitigate them.
    • Implement contingency plans to ensure production continuity.
  • Leadership & Team Development:
    • Lead the growing production team, overseeing the PP tracker weekly meeting.
    • Foster a collaborative, innovative, and high-performance culture within the department.
    • Ensure the team is aligned with the company's strategic goals and is equipped with the tools and training to excel both individually and collectively.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, or a related field. A Master's Degree is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in global sourcing and production, preferably in the footwear or fashion industry.
  • Deep understanding of footwear manufacturing processes, materials, and trends.
  • Proven track record in managing global suppliers and production facilities.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Expertise in cost analysis, budgeting, and financial acumen in relation to global supply chains.
  • Knowledge of sustainability practices and global trade compliance regulations.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to travel internationally.
  • Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and integrity.
  • A strong sense of professional maturity and ethics.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, change-oriented environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and still meet deadlines.
