Position Summary:
The Respiratory Therapist 3 is responsible for delivering exceptional care to patients with cardiopulmonary conditions. This role involves performing comprehensive assessments and providing therapeutic interventions across the healthcare continuum. The therapist will collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and is expected to work within the Nuvance Health network.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Ventilator and Rounding protocols, assisting physicians in evaluating cardiopulmonary health and aiming to minimize patient ventilator dependency and ICU duration.
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients experiencing respiratory distress, applying appropriate treatments such as oxygen therapy and bronchodilators.
- Collect and analyze arterial blood gases, offering insights and recommendations for therapy adjustments.
- Administer non-invasive ventilation techniques, including BIPAP and CPAP.
- Manage ventilator care for neonates and surgical patients, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Provide education to patients regarding their conditions and necessary home care adjustments to prevent readmissions.
- Respond to emergency situations, including trauma alerts and codes, to stabilize patients effectively.
- Document patient interactions and treatment plans in accordance with departmental standards.
- Participate in mandatory training sessions and departmental meetings to stay current with best practices.
- Assist in onboarding and training new staff members.
- Adhere to all compliance and regulatory requirements related to the role.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Education: Associate's degree in a relevant field.
Required Credentials: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), CPR certification for Healthcare Providers, and proficiency in ventilator management for both adult and neonatal patients.
Experience: A minimum of one year in a clinical respiratory therapy setting is preferred.
Working Conditions:
This position requires significant manual dexterity and the ability to exert considerable physical effort, including lifting up to 50 lbs. The role may involve exposure to various environmental factors, including noise and odors.
