General Role Description


Deliver Technical Advisory Services (TAS) to facilitate installation and commissioning tasks for designated projects while adhering to project timelines and performance standards.


Role Accountabilities

  • Commission AC and DC drive systems and/or control software to align with design performance specifications
  • Execute tune-ups of closed-loop regulators to guarantee optimal equipment functionality and compliance with design criteria
  • Develop, validate, and implement algorithms that govern the electromechanical operation of industrial/Port machinery, focusing primarily on Port crane systems
  • Diagnose and rectify process application issues in intricate control systems
  • Design, configure, and test system software and hardware to fulfill contractual obligations when assigned
  • Collect relevant information from authorized sources to evaluate project requirements concerning the assigned scope of work
  • Provide regular, precise, and thoughtful commissioning status updates to appropriate stakeholders
  • Lead the respective process component of client witness system acceptance tests when designated
  • Suggest modifications to commissioning procedures to enhance system performance
  • Propose software or hardware enhancements to the engineering department
  • Maintain current safety qualifications relevant to assigned tasks and comply with both Company and client safety protocols
  • Mentor associates in specific areas of technical expertise when identified by management as a subject matter expert
  • Educate client personnel on system maintenance practices and/or system operation to ensure peak performance and minimal downtime
  • Plan and execute special projects lasting up to 9 months to support the department when assigned

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering with control automation coursework, mechatronics, computer engineering, or a related field, or equivalent through education and/or work experience
  • 2 years of experience with process and automation controls
  • 2 years of field engineering experience or 2 years of experience in the metals, port solutions, paper, or general industries
  • Proven successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts
  • Demonstrated successful and positive personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills
  • Evidence of continuous improvement in areas of responsibility
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Access
  • Capability to climb and work on cranes at heights up to approximately 175 feet
  • Willingness to travel, domestically and internationally, more than 75% of the time, sometimes with limited notice

Preferred Qualifications

  • Over 3 years of experience servicing a diverse range of port equipment, including overhead traveling cranes and components
  • Proven ability to install, inspect, and maintain lifting equipment in accordance with relevant operating/installation instructions
  • Demonstrated experience working with international clients and field service
  • Demonstrated experience in international field engineering
  • Proven experience in the metals, port solutions, paper, or general industries
  • Proficiency in Oracle ERP
  • Proficiency in MS Projects
