Job Description

YAI is seeking a highly skilled Behavioral Intervention Specialist to join our team. As a Behavioral Intervention Specialist, you will be responsible for assessing the habilitative, behavioral, and psychiatric needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and developing and implementing effective interventions to support those needs.

This is a clinical position that involves working with multiple programs, where you will be responsible for assessing individuals' needs and developing individualized habilitative and behavior support plans. You will work closely with the interdisciplinary team to ensure that clinical needs are addressed, and staff are trained and equipped to implement person-centered interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and Intervention: Conduct formal and informal assessments to identify habilitative, behavioral, and psychiatric needs, and develop individualized habilitative and behavior support plans.
  • Behavioral and Habilitative Assessments: Conduct behavioral and habilitative assessments, including written questionnaires, standardized tests, rating scales, baseline data, direct and indirect observations, and functional behavior assessments (FBAs) to identify contextual factors, cognitive, environmental, social, physical, and medical/psychiatric conditions that may contribute to behavior.
  • Plan Development and Implementation: Develop written, individualized habilitative and behavior support plans using proactive interventions in accordance with the agency philosophy and OPWDD Person-Centered Behavioral Intervention Regulations as determined by individual need.
  • Training and Support: Train direct care staff and management at assigned programs on individual service, staff action plans, and behavior management services using the Explain Model Observe Evaluate (EMOE) training system to ensure that all clinical interventions are properly implemented.
  • Data Collection and Documentation: Direct and/or oversee day-to-day data collection by program staff, ensuring that data are consistently obtained, totaled, and summarized on a monthly basis, and that new data sheets are accessible at the beginning of each month.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, including family members and support providers, to ensure that clinical needs are addressed, and staff are trained and equipped to implement person-centered interventions.

Requirements:

  • Education: Master's degree in clinical or treatment field of psychology, social work, school psychology, or applied psychology as it relates to human development and clinical interventions.
  • Experience: Experience working with individuals with I/DD, including autism spectrum disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders, traumatic brain injury, and co-occurring psychiatric diagnoses.
  • Certifications: Certification in Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention – Revised (SCIP-R) or SCIP-R Restrictive and CPR.
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to engage, build relationships, and work collaboratively with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of I/DD: Strong understanding of I/DD, including autism spectrum disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders, traumatic brain injury, and co-occurring psychiatric diagnoses.
  • Knowledge of Behavioral Interventions: Knowledge of ABA, CBT, DBT, positive psychology, and other evidence-based approaches.
  • Experience with Data Collection and Documentation: Experience with data collection and documentation, including electronic health records.

Compensation:

  • $55,000.00-60,000.00 Annually; based upon education and experience.
