Early Childhood Educator at German International School Washington D.C.

About Us: The German International School Washington D.C. (GISW) is a distinguished educational establishment situated in the Washington DC metropolitan area. With a legacy spanning over sixty years, GISW is committed to delivering exceptional education to learners from preschool through twelfth grade. As the first MINT-EC school in the United States, GISW provides both a U.S. High School Diploma and a German International Abitur (DIA) to its varied student population.

Position Overview: This full-time position requires working 30 hours per week on-site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing children aged 2-4 and planning suitable activities for their development
  • Introducing and promoting the German language to enhance children's linguistic abilities
  • Understanding the principles of the Preschool program and supporting its core mission
  • Collaborating with parents during events and addressing their inquiries
  • Participating in professional development sessions and staff meetings
  • Demonstrating basic computer proficiency

Qualifications:

  • Compliance with all qualifications to serve as a preschool educator as per the Office of Child Care (OCC) regulations, with recognition as a teacher by the OCC
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or an Erzieher/in certification
  • A minimum of one year of full-time teaching experience in a licensed preschool environment
  • Fluency in both German and English (written and spoken)
  • Exhibiting flexibility and the ability to work independently
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. for any employer
