Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant I to provide clinical office support to physicians and surgeons in our Internal Medicine department at Greenlawn, Long Island. This is a part-time, day shift position working offsite.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide basic rooming of patients, perform EKGs, and conduct Point of Care Testing
  • Assist with patient care responsibilities, including venipuncture and EKGs, patient scheduling, and organizing patient flow
  • Accompany patients to exam/procedure rooms, assist with walking, transferring, and dressing, and collect and process specimens
  • Assist physicians with various procedures, take vital signs, and relay instructions to patients and families
  • Perform clerical duties, including sending and receiving patient medical records, obtaining lab/x-ray reports, and completing forms and requisitions
  • Manage charts to ensure information is completed and filed, and prepare prescription refill requests for physician review and approval
  • Inventories, orders, or re-stocks medical supplies as applicable
  • Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, and complies with legal requirements for personal protective equipment
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED with completion of an approved Medical Assistant certificate course of study
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant certificate program from an approved school or 1 year of experience working as a Medical Assistant
  • BCLS certification from AHA or Red Cross
